HOW BENEFACTS IS GOVERNED
Benefacts was established in 2014 as a nonprofit company limited by guarantee and without share capital. Its registered number is CRO 553387.
Its directors are appointed by the members of the company through processes of public advertisement and co-option, within an agreed competency framework. They are drawn from the nonprofit, philanthropic, professional services sectors and wider civil society, and observe a set of business and ethical standards in the conduct of their work. The company places a high value on governance standards and is compliant as a “type c” organisation with the provisions of the Governance Code – a code of practice for good governance of community, voluntary and charitable organisations.
PROJECT FUNDING AND GOVERNANCE
Benefacts has multi-annual agreements for the majority of its funding with the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform (DPER) and the Ireland Funds respectively. To oversee the conduct of our work under the terms of our funding agreement, DPER has established a Project Advisory Committee this meets regularly throughout the year and its members are drawn from the philanthropic funders as well as a range of government policy-makers, regulators, funders and others.
